Karen T. Garcia focuses her practice on the domestic residential and commercial real estate transactions required by our international clients and she assists as a bilingual liaison between our office and wealth management offices in the US and abroad. She is fully fluent and literate in Spanish and English.
Karen was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. In 1995, her family relocated to Miami, where she attended middle and high school. In 2002, she was admitted to the University of Miami as a Howard Hughes Scholar, where she received her B.S. in Biology and Chemistry. Karen subsequently used her bilingual skills in teaching English to foreign students at Kaplan International Centers in Miami and Ann Arbor, Michigan.
In 2011, Karen obtained her J.D. degree from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, in Lansing, Michigan. She was ranked as a “Best Advocate” in the first year Moot Court Competition and in the National Moot Court competition, hosted by the New York State Bar, her team’s brief was honored for its excellence. Karen was actively involved in Moot Court and in Delta Theta Phi, Percy J. Power Senate, and received the 2011 Leadership Award. During her final semester in law school, Karen obtained a judicial clerkship position with the Office of Administrative Hearings in Washington, D.C., where she assisted the Administrative Judges responsible for adjudicating cases in the Departments of Rental Housing, Health and Human Services, and Child and Families.
Karen was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2015, and became an associate at AMK that year. She works closely with the attorneys involved in the international estate planning and tax practice and focuses on the domestic residential and commercial real estate transactions required by our international clients. She is a member of the Young Lawyers Division and the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law and International Law Sections of the Florida Bar, and a member of the American Bar Association.
