John E. Cervera focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation in both state and federal courts with a particular concentration in international fraud, trust, cryptocurrency, and judgment collection cases. He is admitted to The Florida Bar, the bars of all three U.S. district courts in Florida, and the bar of the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He has native fluency and literacy in Spanish and English and has recently been rated a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers and among the “Ones to Watch” by Best Lawyers.
John graduated magna cum laude from Florida International University in 2016 and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2019. During law school, John was the Parliamentarian of the Student Bar Association, President of the Cuban American Bar Association (UF Law Chapter) and the Community Service Chairman of the Latino Law Students Association. In 2018 and 2019, he competed on the Florida Trial Team in several national trial advocacy competitions held in the mainland U.S. and in Puerto Rico and, in 2019, he was awarded the Florida Trial Team Outstanding Graduate Award. During his final year in law school, John tried cases as a Certified Legal Intern under a program sponsored by the Supreme Court of Florida, personally handling all parts of several jury trials from jury selection, through witness examination and cross-examination, to jury instruction, closing argument, and verdict.

John is active in Miami’s legal community. He is a member of the Cuban American Bar Association (“CABA”) and was the Winter 2022 Editor of CABA Briefs, the Association’s biannual journal. He has been a member of the International Ethics Committee of the American Bar Association since 2023.
Outside the office, John is an avid reader and amateur poet. His poetry was recently featured in Ventanitas, a collection of poems, photographs, and articles on Miami’s unique coffee culture published by the Miami literature organization, “OMiami.”
