Ana Cardenas focuses her practice on international tax and estate matters. She advises high net worth individuals and families on international tax and estate planning, trusts, pre-immigration planning, and international transactional matters. She also works with the AMK litigation team in preparing client cases for presentation before the United States Tax Court.
Ana earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law in 2018. While at the University of Miami, she served as an Articles and Comments Editor of the University of Miami Business Law Review. She also received the Dean’s Certificate of Achievement Award for the highest grade in Business Planning Seminar. She thereafter earned an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 2019.
Ana began her career in private practice focusing on international tax matters involving high net worth individuals and families. She later focused on domestic and international corporate tax matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and cross-border investment structures. Ana thereafter joined the Internal Revenue Service’s Office of Chief Counsel, Large Business and International Division, where she had previously served as a legal extern during law school. While with the Office of Chief Counsel, she advised IRS examination teams on complex tax issues involving large businesses and multinational entities and represented the IRS in matters before the United States Tax Court, with a focus on large partnerships, micro-captive insurance arrangements, and syndicated conservation easements.
Ana then returned to private practice, joining AMK in 2026.
Ana is admitted to practice law in the State of Florida.
She is a Miami native and is fluent in Spanish.
Ana is a member of Girls Inc. of Greater Miami, a nonprofit organization that provides mentorship and leadership development programs for girls in the South Florida community.
