Stephen McCloskey is an experienced tax attorney who advises high net worth families and their closely held companies on complex cross-border tax matters including: inbound and outbound international tax planning; strategies to minimize exposure to federal estate and gift taxes; pre-immigration planning; structuring acquisitions and dispositions of U.S. real property holdings; treaty planning; expatriation planning; tax compliance and voluntary disclosure matters; tax implications of corporate and partnership transactions; and the negotiation of joint ventures, long-term commercial leases, and other contractual arrangements.
Before joining the firm, Stephen worked in the international tax department of two Big Four accounting firms and an AM100 law firm where he developed deep technical tax skills that he leverages to design creative solutions to complex tax problems.
Stephen is a graduate of the University of Florida Levin College of Law in Gainesville, Florida where he earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with honors in 2012. Stephen is also a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. where he earned a Masters of Laws degree in Taxation (LL.M.) with a Certificate in International Taxation.
Stephen is licensed to practice in Florida, Wyoming, and the District of Colombia, and before the United States Tax Court and the United States Court of Federal Claims.
